Best British Centre is a Licensed Sponsor, and we can provide Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) to volunteers, who would like to volunteer for our 'World Heritage' project in the UK (subject to successful volunteer application and other criteria).

 

This is a great opportunity to come to the UK and take up unpaid voluntary work to help our charity with numerous projects. 

Duration of stay: up to 12 months. And a possibility to extend the visa for up to 12 months without leaving the UK. 

Conditions of stay: 

You can:

  • study - for some courses you’ll need an Academic Technology Approval Scheme certificate

  • work for your sponsor in the job described in your certificate of sponsorship

  • do a second job in the same sector at the same level as your main job for up to 20 hours per week

  • bring your partner and children with you, if they’re eligible

 

You cannot:

  • receive any payment for work

  • take a permanent job

  • get public funds

Partner and children: Charity Workers can bring their family members (dependant partner and dependant children) to the UK, if they meet the relevant immigration requirements for dependants. Conditions for dependants:

  • no access to public funds; and

  • work (including self-employment and voluntary work) is permitted, except as a professional sportsperson (including as a sports coach); and

  • study is permitted, subject to the ATAS condition in Appendix ATAS if the applicant is over the age of 18.

Fees

  • pay the Home Office application fee, which is £298 per person

  • pay the healthcare surcharge, which is usually £1,035 per year 

  • prove you have enough personal savings 

You must have at least £1,270 in your bank account to show you can support yourself in the UK. Your partner or children must also have a certain amount of money available to support themselves while they’re in the UK.

  • £285 for your partner

  • £315 for one child

  • £200 for each additional child

You will need to have had the money available for at least 28 days in a row. Day 28 must be within 31 days of applying for this visa.

You must have a certificate of sponsorship from us before you can apply to come to the UK to volunteer. A certificate of sponsorship is a unique reference number that holds information about the job you will do and your personal details. It is not a certificate or paper document.

VOLUNTEER UP TO 30 DAYS - STANDARD VISITOR VISA

You can visit the UK as a Standard Visitor to volunteer for up to 30 days with a registered charity. Best British Centre is a registered charity, and we welcome volunteers from abroad who wish to dedicate some time helping others. This is a great opportunity to visit the UK to take up unpaid voluntary work to help our charity with our numerous projects. 

Duration of stay: up to 6 months

Conditions of stay

You cannot:​

  • do paid or unpaid work for a UK company or as a self-employed person

  • claim public funds (benefits)

  • live in the UK for long periods of time through frequent or successive visits

  • marry or register a civil partnership, or give notice of marriage or civil partnership

Check you meet the eligibility requirements
You must have a passport or travel document to enter the UK. It should be valid for the whole of your stay.

You must be able to show that:

  • you’ll leave the UK at the end of your visit

  • you’re able to support yourself and your dependants during your trip (or have funding from someone else to support you)

  • you’re able to pay for your return or onward journey (or have funding from someone else to pay for the journey)

  • you’ll not live in the UK for extended periods through frequent or successive visits, or make the UK your main home

Fees

A Standard Visitor visa costs £115 for up to 6 months

 

Check if you need a visa to visit the UK
Depending on your nationality, you’ll either:

  • have to apply for a Standard Visitor visa before you travel to the UK

  • be able to visit the UK for up to 6 months without needing a visa

If you do not need a visa, you must still meet the Standard Visitor eligibility requirements to visit the UK. You may be asked questions at the UK border about your eligibility and the activities you plan to do.

You must have a successful volunteer application, and be offered a short-term volunteer placement by us before you can apply to come to the UK as a visitor to volunteer for our charity for up to 30 days.
